Story:
The testimony of a landscape that, in its strength and abundance, allowed man to become a symbiotic part of it. A solid and profound testimony, conveyed by people who have something to say. In a way that, due to its rarity, deserves to be recorded as a firm legacy for future generations. The documentary, in which the actor David Švehlík guides the viewer with his voice, features 11 guests who have a close professional and personal relationship with the landscape of the Třeboň region - Doc. RNDr. Jan Pokorný, CSc. will talk about the air-conditioning function of ponds, Ing. Václava Fliegelová and Mgr. Blanka Čechová, Ph.D. about the trees of the Třeboň region. RNDr. Jan Květ, CSc., dr.h.c. and Jiří Kotrba about wetlands, Mgr. Rostislav Černý, CSc. about the Lužnice floodplain, Ing. Aleš Škrabánek and Michal Kotyza about carp, pondkeepers and pond systems, Ing. Jiří Neudert on the white-tailed eagle, Oldřich Čermák on the overall significance of pond farming, and film and theatre actor Viktor Preiss on the relationship between man and landscape. More than just a landscape that watches history pass before its eyes, the Třeboň scene itself is a unique landscape. The Lužnice River retains its free unbridledness, while the ponds represent unique lymph nodes of the landscape that cleanse its life-giving source It is a system that is both ingenious and simple at the same time. Water, dam, water, dam. Faith, Hope, Love. This film is an encounter with a landscape that works. It is an image of a place where water is not just a surface, but a memory. Where trees are not just backdrops, but witnesses of time. Where tradition is not the past, but a living present. And a man, in the age-old connection with this landscape. Not as a master, but as a part. A person who understood its rhythm and inscribed himself in it. Štěpánek Netolický, Mikuláš Ruthard, Jakub Krčín, Josef Šusta. Each of them shaped the Třeboň region differently – some with reason and strength, others with feeling and vision. The Landscape of the Double Sky. A film about nature that is not only lovely, but also resilient and wise. About a landscape that has retained the potential to continue to remain a carefully balanced system that has survived centuries. About the people who love and understand it. About the future that we have yet to earn.
